Studied interpreting and translating science at the Department for Applied Languages at Heidelberg University with the subjects English, Spanish and Economics.  
    
After graduating in 1992, she worked until 1999 as an interpreter, translator and editor at the Embassy of the United States of America in the Federal Republic of Germany where she interpreted among others for the respective U.S. Ambassadors and members of the American and German governments at the highest level.
    
When the U.S. Embassy moved from Bonn to Berlin, Barbara Fahnenbruck used the opportunity to set up her own interpreting business.  Since then she has, on the basis of thorough pre-assignment preparation, been working together with highly qualified colleagues in different specialist fields.
